Good Information

Over the past ten years, environmentally-conscious and energy-efficient building has become increasingly popular as people realize the downstream cost and energy savings as well as environmental benefits associated with using newly engineered and/or alternative building products. Because of the widespread interest in the so-called “green” movement, numerous individuals and businesses formed the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) which regulates the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) system. The LEED system is a series of credits given to designers, builders and owners who build responsibly based on several different criteria while maximizing economic and environmental performance. Several Reclaimed Wood Council members are working closely with green building organizations like USGBC to continue our mission of bringing high quality reclaimed building materials to the marketplace.
